Brightlights Autocare was founded in 2008 by Gary Parent and Michael Troiano.

Gary Parent is an artist and craftsman with several years experience in plastics and lighting where he founded and operated Davinci Signs in Maine. Gary's knowledge and experience with industrial plastics used in harsh environments was key in developing a cleaning and protective process that could be applied to the automotive industry.

Michael Troiano is a scientist and electronic engineer with over 30 years experience in plastics and their application. He was fortunate to grow up in his dad's autobody shop working with cars, truck and boats, and utilized his experience in developing an effective, easy to use process for headlight cleaning and restoration that could be repeated reliability and consistently in a mobile business application.

We spent over a year in development and testing of all competitive headlight cleaning and restoration products on the market including products found online and in automotive stores. We were disappointed in the results even from the name brands who excelled in polishes and waxes, and discovered that every product tested actually left the plastic headlight lenses vulnerable to re-oxidation. Even the products with proctectants fell short of the mark because they were water based and did not stand up to the environments that caused yellowing in the first place, namely UV rays, salt, and ammonia used in carwashes. We found this to be a very temporary fix and will leave the plastic headlight lenses unprotected, not to mention possible damage to the autos paint and finish while performing this crude process.

We discovered a breakthrough while working with products used in industrial and marine applications and found cleaners that were easier to apply, worked better, and proctectants that could stand the rigors of continuous sun and saltwater. We continued testing our process and business model with a team of local headlight restoration technicians, and developed the best and most effective headlight cleaning system on the market. We further perfected the business side of it and designed a turnkey mobile business that could fit into a backpack and be performed anywhere in the world where automobiles were found.
